Pilot Parallel Pens

Parallel Pens are the result of the development by Pilot Pen Co. of the Parallel Plate Structure. The pens slightly resemble the British Automatic Pen which also has two metal blades. However in the Parallel pen the two blades are closely aligned in parallel and that narrow gap supplies ink from the cartridge to the nib edge. The result is a consistent crisp edge, sharp hairlines and a totally reliable, smooth flow of ink that doesn’t need to be refilled after every stroke.

In a dip or cartridge pen, ink travels through one or more slits in the nib to feed across the writing edge. Break ups (non-delivery of the ink) can occur, particularly in larger pens. With the Parallel Pen’s totally different construction ink flows between two layers of metal lying on top of each other, delivering ink to the entire writing edge without fail.

With the Pilot logo facing upwards the edge of the pen can also be used to write a .5mm monoline, illustration, flourishing. Colours can be blended in the pen by touching the writing edge of one pen to a second pen loaded with another colour. The overall colour gradually changes as the imported ink starts to run out.

An infinite variety of colours and gradations can be achieved by applying different colour and combinations. Each pen comes with a plastic nib cleaner, for sliding between the nib plates to remove paper fibres, and a converter which is intended for use in flushing the pen through with clean water.

The pen section dismantles and can be washed in clean water. There are four pens in the range 1.5mm, 2.4mm, 3.8mm and 6mm. Each pen comes with a nib cleaner, converter and two cartridges. A boxed set of three pens is available. Cartridges are available in packs of 6 in individual colours:- Black, red, pink, orange, yellow, light green, green, turquoise, blue, violet, sepia and blue black or mixed packs of each colour (12) .
